The 3D printing technology

A 3D printed part can be produced using different 3D printing techniques. Every printing technique is characterized through certain materials and methods. But they have one thing all in common: the creation of a threedimensional object through adding multiple layers, one after another. This principle is also called additive manufacturing, generative manufacturing or rapid technology.

Advantages of additive manufacturing

Additive manufacturing processes have several advantages over conventional manufacturing processes. Some of the most important advantages are listed below.

While conventional manufacturing processes such as milling are limited in terms of component geometry, there are actually no limits with 3D printing. Even undercuts are no problem due to so-called support structures and can be implemented by any printer.

3D printing is particularly interesting in the development of prototypes. After a component is designed, it can be immediately given to 3D printing and, depending on the component complexity, is ready in just a few hours and can be used for testing. Thus, 3D printing also accelerates the development process enormously.

The argument that only a few materials can be used in 3D printing is no longer up to date. Today, countless types of plastic with different properties (e.g. UV-resistant, elastic, certain sliding properties, etc.) can be used for printing. With other printing processes, even metals or ceramics can be printed (so-called sintering process).

With 3D printing, even one-off production is still economically feasible. With other processes, the costs are many times higher than for series production.

The components are printed according to your requirements (dimensions, material, color, etc.) and then, if desired, post-processed and finished. We then ship the components directly to you.
